How to use 2005Stang.com

Ok so you came here and you're wondering: How in the hell do I put my pictures on this site? Well I've made it as easy as could be. Follow along and you'll be creating your own galleries in no time.

First things first, you'll need to become a member of the Forum/Gallery first before you can upload anything. Signing up is much like any other forum, and does require a valid email address. Once you've signed up your account will be activated and you'll be able to log-in and get started.

Now that you're logged in go ahead and click on Gallery in the upper left hand area of the site.

The first thing you see under the top menu of the Gallery are 3 options, Create/order my albums, Modify my Albums, and My profile. Go ahead and select Create/order my albums.

You'll be presented with dialog box where you can create a new gallery.

Go ahead and select the "New" button.

The phrase "New Gallery" will then appear in both the large text area and small text box below it. Go ahead and rename it by selecting that phrase and renaming to what you want.

You now have a Gallery to upload your pictures to!

Now to upload your pictures bring your mouse over to tab at the top of the Gallery called "User" a submenu will appear and you will see the menu item "Upload File". Go ahead and click on that menu item and you will be presented with an upload page that allows you select up to 10 pictures from your hard-drive and upload them. You don't have to fill up all the upload slots, you only have to use as many as you need in groups of ten.

The Gallery is set up to accept pictures as large as 4000 pixels wide and 10 Megs in size. This will allow even the largest images from newer cameras to be accepted.

Now you might be wondering how on earth can I store such large images. The gallery will only store your original uploaded pictures for a period of 24hours at the most. I run a script daily to delete all original photo's to conserve disk space.

An important part of this online gallery is its search capabilites. But search is only as good as the information that is supplied. Once you've uploaded your images, take a little extra time to go through and label your images, and attach keywords to them. Use keywords that describe exactly what's in the picture. If the picture shows the interior of a GT with IUP, make sure you use those terms as keywords and in the description. This will enable people looking for certain types of photo's to find them quickly.

That about does it for how you initially get started with the Gallery, have fun and if you have any other questions, feel free to zap me an email

Have fun and happy motoring and picture taking!
