so i have been asked alot about the v6 grill fog light wiring.
so here is one way and it should be hwy approved because when you turn on your high beams the fogs go out.
parts required are
2- bosch relays 12v 20/30A part# 0 332 204 150
some crimp on female spade connectors
14ga wire black and red
fuse holder w/fuse 15amp
small black coil wire cover
this way assumes you are using the gt switch. if using another togle or rocker switch all you need to do is hook the other post on the switch to the red and white wire on the stock switch. this way the lights can only be turned on when the headlights are also on. so you wont run down the bat if you leave the car.

some people are just getting the street scene harness plus the gt switch. this is a great option also. the only dif is install the harness per instuctions up to the switch install. at this point you would remove the old v6 switch. then cut the ss yellow wire at the connector. you would then tap into the factory harness like ss tels you except you would hook to the orange/lite green wire instaed of the red/white wire. the orange green wire is the actuall gt fog wire. after you hook to this plug the switch in pop it in the opening and your done. afew additional tricks. if you want the fogs to go off when the high beams are on look at the above diagrahm this shows how to add an additional relay to do this. also if you use the gt switch. the diagram showes adding a blue wire to make the led on the gt switch light when the fogs are on.
hope this helps

also here is a good tech artical when they used my car

and here is the street scene install sheet

Cool write-up Tom! Thumbs up

I like how you did the wiring.I, on the other hand, took the quick and dirty method...

1. Purchased a Hella Optilux Remote wiring kit

2. Connected the ground to the frame
3. Connected the hot to an open terminal in the engine compartment fuse box
4. Connected the output wires to the fog, er driving, lights
5. Connected the hot from the relay to the middle wire on my right front parking light.
6. Installed the remote next to my V-6 light switch.

I can now only turn on the fog, er driving, lights when my parking lights are on. By turning my lights off it also turns off my fog lights. Though it doesn't mitigate the problem of turning off the fog lights when the hi-beams are on but I don't use my high beams all that much out here in the kitty litter! shit eatin grin

Tell me one thing Tom... how in the heck did you get the main hot connector loosened on the back of the outside fuse box? I torqued the heck out of that bolt and could not get it to budge. I finally gave up and connected to a open terminal inside the fuse box/

Wiring up this way lets you use the GT switch to control the fogs? How does the wiring connect to the switch? Are all the parts readily available at a Pep Boys or Auto Zone type store? Do you happen to have a full write up on your method?

Forgive me for asking all these questions (as a first post on this board too!), but I have been searching for about 6 months on a way to use the GT switch to control the Fog Lamps and not have to use the Street Scene harness... I really want the OEM look!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Here is the thing. The easy way is to get the street scene harness and the gt switch. That’s what i have. Follow all the directions except for the hook up at the switch. You would hook it up to the orange light green wire. That’s what I did; it is the actual gt fog wire if you have the gt switch. I will say this again. I AM USING TH GT SWITCH AND IT WORKS FINE. All of the wires are there up to the smart box. I just am not using the smart box. the bummer of not using the smart box is that in some states you are not suppose to drive with high beams and fogs , so when you turn on the high beams the smart box shuts them off. This is why I added the second relay it trips the relay so if the high beams are on the fogs are off. So if you live in a state that does the inspections you would pass.

When I first checked into a wiring kit. I took it all apart. Fuse block smart box everything. The wires to the fuse and even micro relay in the fuse box everything up to the fuse box was there. I just didn’t have the wire harness that would go to the lights. Now I could have added it for about 100 bucks and some time under the hood. But my mechanic friend at ford and I still couldn’t at the time (pre pony package) get the darn thing to trip the smart box. Since then the street scene kit came along and I helped them with it. They actually had the original harness wired wrong. When we were installing it I asked "so where do you hook this wire to" the tech said "well to the hot on the light switch of course". That’s when I explained to him that all the wires except for the feedback for the actual lights in the switch were grounds. Oops, after looking at the pre made harness it was an easy fix they only had fifty made so far and then just had to redo the wire instruction sheet. It was a simple fix. We just swapped the ground and made it the trigger wire and jumped the hot to also feed the other side of the coil. So basically once the street scene harness is installed al you have to do is ground the trigger wire anywhere. if you wanted them on all the time you could even just use the stock v6 switch and just hook to the head light wire without the switch then the lights would come on all the time. For me I wanted the stock look so I used the gt switch. I guess if I wanted to I could pull the fuse box back out and wire into the real fuse that is not used from underneath to remove a bunch of stuff. so in closing get the gt switch 40 bucks street scene harness 80 bucks (or take the material list provided and make your own. ) I guess I can go back to my friend and see if now that they have the pony pac the WDS service tool has been updated to reflash the smart box. But for now without going to the dealer this is in my opinion (and trusts me since Feb. 05 I have been playing around with this) this is one of the better and cleaner ways to go. Also the only reason I ran the blue wire is so that when the fogs are on the little green led on the gt switch lights up. If you don’t car about it don’t run it.

Hope this helps
Ps. English grammar was not my best subject in school

use this as a referance just dont drill the dam hole! oh and i like my hot wire placement better

Thanks for your help!

I think I am brave enough to try this! Smile

I'll order the Street Scene harness and GT switch and see if I can make this work then (I have basically no experince when it comes to wiring)... Would you be able to email me those pictures above in a bigger size? Between those pictures, your write up and the other sites step by step, I should be okay, but I might be back with more questions... Wink

Hopefully not!

I think you answered the question that i am trying to figure out. I have the street scene wiring already routed in my car with their switch. I just bought the gt switch and am about to put it in. If i understand correctly i can leave all the wiring how i have it and just splice the other wire from my old switch to the orange/green wire. Is this correct? If i splice the other wire that goes to the red/white wire is it possible to get the foglight to come with the parking lights instead?

i just emailed you with my phone # you can call me. basicly remove the splice from the red /white wire. and just hook up the ( is it still yellow) wire that use to go to the ss toggle switch to the orange / green. this will make the switch work just like mine and the gts. you will be able to turn on your fogs without the headlights but running ligts will be on also. the onlt thing is that you will also be able to have fogs and high beams and in some states thats a no no. thats why o have shown people how to add the second relay if they want. hope this helps
